PRP concentrates growth factors from a small sample of your own blood and reintroduces them into the skin or scalp to support repair and density.

How it works
A blood sample is spun in a centrifuge to separate platelet-rich plasma, which is then applied topically, microneedled or injected. The concentrated growth factors accelerate collagen and elastin production.
Suitability
- Not suitable for patients with a tendency to bleed or bruise easily
- Not suitable for those with clotting or bleeding disorders
- Requires medical screening
The procedure
- 01The practitioner talks you through the procedure and what is involved
- 02Blood is drawn, usually from the arm
- 03The sample is separated in a centrifuge to prepare the platelet-rich plasma
- 04The PRP is applied to the treatment area topically or by injection
Preparation
- Discontinue steroids, anti-inflammatory and blood-thinning medications four days to a week before treatment
- Have a good meal and stay well hydrated
Downtime
Minimal — you may resume regular activities almost immediately. Mild tenderness and redness usually resolve within three to five days.
Expected results
Early improvement from two to three weeks, with more visible results from four to six weeks. Typically three sessions four weeks apart, with maintenance every six to twelve months.
