Book This Treatment15 – 60 minutes · From ₦35,000

Overview

Laser hair removal reduces unwanted hair by targeting the pigment in the follicle with a controlled beam of light. At Sholema we prioritise wavelengths and cooling systems appropriate for African skin, with patch testing before your first full session.

What it helps with

  • Unwanted hair
  • Ingrown hairs
  • Razor bumps (pseudofolliculitis)
  • Folliculitis

How it works

Light energy is absorbed by melanin within the hair shaft and converted to heat, disabling the follicle during its active growth phase. Because only a portion of follicles are active at once, a course of sessions spaced four to eight weeks apart is required.

Suitability

  • Suitable for most skin tones, including Fitzpatrick V and VI, with appropriate device settings
  • Not performed on tanned or recently sun-exposed skin
  • Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Certain photosensitising medications require a treatment delay

The procedure

  1. 01Consultation, skin assessment and patch test
  2. 02The area is cleansed and shaved if required
  3. 03Protective eyewear is fitted for you and the clinician
  4. 04The handpiece is passed over the area with integrated cooling
  5. 05Soothing gel and sun protection are applied

Preparation

  • Avoid waxing, threading or plucking for four weeks before
  • Shave the area 24 hours before your appointment
  • Avoid direct sun exposure and self-tan for two weeks

Downtime

None. Mild redness and follicular swelling typically settle within a few hours. Avoid heat, exercise and sun exposure for 24–48 hours.

Expected results

Most patients see progressive reduction from the third session, with a typical course of six to eight sessions followed by occasional maintenance.
